Cell Phone Review- Background
 |
Nokia is an international telecommunications
company operating in over 40 countries, with production
operations in at least 15. The company supplies
telecommunications systems and equipment for fixed
and cell phone networks and is one of the leading
suppliers of GSM-based digital cell networks.
The Nokia 3360 which is featured in this
review is one of the most popular cell phones
in the Nokia range, and with Nokia having such
a large share of the cell market, that puts this
phone up there as a top seller. When you look
at the features its no wonder the 3360 enjoys
so much popularity. Nokia have maximized customizability
of their entire cell phone range, and the 3360
enjoys this to the max. You can change the appearance
with a large range of multi-colored face plates,
the ringers and tones can all be set up to your
own preference, you can download or program your
own sounds, rearrange menus, program group profiles
and even download your own graphics to truly individualize
your cell. It is fully web-enabled, has the increasing
sought-after infrared abilities, and as you will
see has a range of features which make it a leader
in its class.

Ericsson is a leader in the telecommunications
market with one of the largest customer base.
Ericsson manufactures everything from systems
and applications, communication tools and its
popular cell phone range. The Ericsson
t68, which is reviewed in this article, is
one of its most popular Ericsson cell phones.
It is a leader in the cell market, with maximum
customizability, color graphics, web and infrared
technology and a pile of additional features discussed
throughout the review. As with the Nokia 3360,
ability to customize is a key with the Ericsson
t68's popularity: there are downloadable tones,
you can program your own ringers - even the graphics
can be adjusted to your own personal preferences.
With the ability to change menus, program various
group profiles and download new screen savers,
your Ericsson t68 will be distinct. The phone
looks stunning, and when you see what it can do
you will be sold on its superiority in the cell
phone market.

Siemens are relatively new to the US cell phone market, despite being the 3rd largest phone manufacturer world-wide. With the stiff competition and market share enjoyed by Nokia, Motorola and Ericsson, Siemens have had a job cut out for them. The high end Siemens S40 is one of their first cell phones on the US market, and it is one of Siemens most popular. However, one of the areas this phone is lacking in is customizability, which has become a strong selling point in the cell phone market. The general appearance of the phone is not adjustable, and although you can program a few ringers and set up group profiles for them, the Siemens S40 has no on-screen graphics to alter, the menus are not rearrangable and there are limited customizable features. Given the current trends with cells, this is an area that Siemens will be looking at if it wants to attract a larger market share in the States. |
